The Model CNX is a hazardous location rated thermal vacuum chamber in which its heaters are configured inside of the vessel as heated platens or shelves. Shelves are constructed either as cast aluminum or IFC (interference fit) machined stainless steel. Both constructions can be configured for heating, cooling or both. The CNX construction is typically found in pharmaceutical, medical, paints & pigments and military ballistics & explosives applications. It is extremely effective in applications that require the removal of moisture or solvents from slurries or explosive powders. The CNX is offered in two type of arrangements:
Standard Range X-Purge – 100-482° F (30-250° C), 760 to 1-Torr, For use in Class I & 2, Division 1 Groups A thru D, and Zone 1 applications
Standard Range YZ-Purge – 100-482° F (30-250° C), 760 to 1-Torr, For use in Class 1 & 2, Division 2 Groups A thru D, and Zone 2 applications
All of our platens are machined flat on both sides and thoroughly cleaned before being installed into the chamber. Heaters that are casted and or machined into the platens are magnesium oxide based and Incoloy-sheathed producing a no arc type construction. Both aluminum and stainless steel platens electrical connections are made outside of the vacuum vessel or the process chamber and housed or contained in an approved terminal housing. Heater connections are transitioned through the vessel wall using our proprietary welding and fitting technique.
The GOCI control system is unsurpassed in the industry. It features our special F4AV fully programmable controller manufactured by Watlow Electric and industry leader in process control. All of our systems feature two alarms, which can be configured for either process or deviation. Also as standard we provide a FM approved over temperature limit controller, for each platen, shutting them down in the event of an excessive heater core temperature which could potentially cause product and or system damage. The platens are individually controlled by either the Watlow RM or Watlow ST multi-loop controller depending on loop requirements. The multi-loop controls receive its process set point from the F4AV controller. This control scheme ensures accuracy and high uniformity between shelves. The Watlow RM drives our state of the art SCR power controller’s further maximizing accuracy, reliability and control. The Watlow ST is an all-in-one package that features a solid state relay, limit contactor, limit and process temperature control. One recommended option to use with the Model CNX is the Magelis touchscreen. This gives the operators and engineers a gateway for viewing, setting up and modifying control parameters and process variables. Touch screens are available in 5-in and 7-in models and are fully integrated into systems that contain the RM or ST and the F4AV controller.
We feature two types of agency approved purge systems depending on location, X and YZ. The CNX system is constructed in full compliance with NFPA 79 and 496. The X purge features automatic pneumatic timers which flush purges every time the system has lost air pressure and has fallen below operating pressure. In addition the X purge also disconnects all power to the oven system using its pneumatic power supply contactor, up to 20A. For larger systems the pneumatic power supply contactor is used in conjunction high a higher power electric solenoid driven contactor in order to disconnect operating power. The YZ purge does not disconnect power from the system but simply alarms when purge pressure has been compromised. As an extra element of safety GOCI disconnects all high power thermal circuits until pressure has been restored.
